Control

As my DOB drifts toward antiquity I become convinced that forces are at play in this world that shy away from light. They cloak themselves in a shroud of distraction as they push and pull the levers of society.  I share Justice Brandeis’s view of sunlight and its disinfectant quality regarding these powers.

I believe humans were designed. To believe such a complex machine as the human body simply became existent through a series of accidents and random mutation is folly. Worse than folly it appears to be a blind worship of time, and I’ll explore this idea in later posts. We (the designed human) seem to have an innate desire to be part of a group(s). I would argue that people now run toward the group to which they feel most aligned or with whom they feel most comfortable, but do we decide on our group(s)? If it is left to us to decide, how do we do that? Some drivers are clear, and some are not. Some of the default memberships have been replaced. Replaced with constructs far more polarizing than phenotypic similarities or geographical proximity.  In a nutshell, I believe humans are designed to be a part of groups, and group membership is shifting along with technological advancement. If this statement is true, the control over the tech must be playing a part, if not heavily influencing, group membership. The pushing and pulling of levers.

Example:

Gone are comments sections on most news outlet web sites. Ultra-active are the comments on the social media pages of news outlets. I read an innocuous sounding story announcing the launch of a conservative talk radio station in Denver. Like rabid badgers on Adderall, people who have never met one another and know next to nothing of each other’s story, type away with a certain retarded ferocity. You’re a Nazi say some. You’re a libtard say others. Insults attacking intelligence and calls for rebuke of evil positions and world views are leveled. Keyboard warriors are using their typing skills to lose their venom onto the Internet in a comment section that has zero impact on anything while griping about a radio station launch. Repeat. Griping about a radio station launch. Out of all the things in the world I care about, someone launching a radio station I’ll never listen to doesn’t come close to registering. I don’t care at all, and at the risk of attributing a level of megalomania to the public’s views, I can’t image this is really all that big a deal to, well, anyone ever. Yet time and effort are directed to things like this by many operating as self-appointed spokespeople for their group. Why?

I don’t know what this blog will become, or if it will become. I will keep these posts to 500 words or less to try and impart a little of what is in my scattered head in a concise way should anyone care to hear it.

Life is more than it appears.
